ART 3230 BOOK STRUCTURES (3 credits)
This course investigates basic approaches to bookbinding, introducing students to the history, tools, and techniques of the discipline. Students execute a variety of adhesive and non-adhesive bindings, including the pamphlet, the accordion, the linkstitch, and the drumleaf. Students utilize these and other experimental structures to create artist books that make dynamic use of text & image pairings and explore sequencing of visual content, with a focus on materials and the overall experience of the book. Lab fee required.
