SOC 8030 APPLIED RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS (3 credits)
This course focuses on the research design process from an applied social science perspective. Students will practice using diverse methodologies from sociology and anthropology using a hands-on, problem-based approach. Topics covered include the logic of scientific inquiry, qualitative and quantitative research approaches, mixed-methods research designs, community-based participatory research, evaluation research, and ethics in applied social science research.
Prerequisite(s): Graduate standing; undergraduate course in research methods; permission of instructor if outside Sociology MA program.
