SOC 8070 APPLIED THEORY (3 credits)
The objective of this course is to familiarize students with central theoretical questions in sociology and anthropology as well as develop and sharpen students' ability to apply theory to contemporary issues and practice. This class emphasizes the practical application of theoretical concepts such as culture, social structure, social inequality, social change, and research methods in concrete settings. Using case studies and practical exercises we apply theory to specific social issues and discuss the role of theory in applied research.
Prerequisite(s): Graduate standing; undergraduate theory course; permission of instructor if outside Sociology MA program
